About Us

HouseAJoyMusic

HOUSE A JOY MUSIC.

On the east side of Kingston in a town called Papine there was a restaurant on Tavern Avenue called House A Joy. On that street there was a master dancer named Ricky. People called him Coolie.

At Papine, Coolie and I ran a night called Japanese Link Up. At that time, we use to talk a lot about running a record label together. We always got worked up when we imagined the possibilities.

We wanted to make cool Japanese music that Jamaican people could dance to. We were going to do so many things together like build a guesthouse so that Japanese folks could come to Jamaica to share music.

We had so many ideas. They were endless.

In May of 2012 Coolie went away. He is never coming back.

His spirit lives on in House A Joy Music.
